The first two of four gifts ...
A human resources manager, our first guest married later in life to her sweetheart. Without children of her own, she had laid the groundwork to make a difference in my daughter’s life. Time and again, she had reached out to ask about school, share a book she loved, or include my daughter in conversation.
Unwrapping the treasure of her wisdom, she gave JoHanna a key ring with a heart attached. Proverbs 4:23, “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life,” she shared. Embrace the Purity God gave you.
From a heart of love and confidence, she shared how she came to know Christ as a teenager, saw the heartache of those who compromised their purity, determined to remain pure, and was blessed as she married in purity. Not only physical purity, but purity in heart, guarding her mind and spirit, keeping her unhindered to embrace God’s best. God’s plan brings blessing out of obedience. His plan is what you can trust to bless you.
Our second guest was a single woman in her thirties, preparing to leave as a missionary to Europe. We had watched the friend’s journey, discovering how she was designed to reach the people of Europe, developing a passion for missions, trusting God to provide for her needs.
From experience, she urged my thirteen year old to, “Embrace the Personality God gave you.” God has delighted in the woman He has created you to be, because you are “fearfully and wonderfully made,” Ps. 139:14.In fact, she shared that a woman is most beautiful when she enjoys how God made her. Whether facing a life change or facing the teenage years, she encouraged that His design is what you can trust to comfort you.
Tomorrow, two more gifts from women who shared in "mothering."
