National Day of Prayer ~ Day 1

What a privilege to enjoy the freedom of prayer, even to declare a "National Day of Prayer." I have a friend who asks me, "Do you want to dial or hang up?" :) That's her way of saying "Open in prayer or close?" That's because prayer is truly a conversation with our Heavenly Father who longs for us to come to Him. Whether you're praying in your closet, with a friend, around the table, in the car, on the phone, or while you walk, let's exercise our freedom to pray this week! To help us make the most of the National Day of Prayer this week, I want to offer 3 days of specific ways to pray.

Some of the info for today came from the National Day of Prayer official website which has some great ideas.

Let's start today with Prayer for our Nation. Tomorrow will be Prayer for our People.

Prayer for our Nation

1 Timothy 2

1I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all men … 8I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. “
