Relaxing With Dad

Summer is a great season to relax with Dad. Spending time with our main man doesn't have to be expensive. My Jo and I came up with our Top 10 Ways to Relax With Dad. Your dad is unique and may choose a big screen and buffet restaurant over a nature trail and back porch, but you'll get the idea as you read our ideas for relaxing with our main man.

  1. Go on a hike ... and be very quiet, so he can see the critters.
  2. Let him hold the remote and stop on "dad channels," without complaining.
  3. Get a movie & let him hold the bowl of kettle corn while watching. Turn out the lights.
  4. Make his favorite dinner and sit on the back porch to eat together.
  5. Grab a bowl of cereal and sit on the back porch while he has his devotions. (Loves the back porch!)
  6. Go on a mountain bike ride at his favorite park.
  7. Play a fast paced game of Dutch Blitz with him.
  8. Make a pot of coffee and a homemade pie ... no store bought crust!
  9. Go on a drive & let him stop & watch deer he finds; don't mess with the binocular settings.
  10. Let him lay in the sun and listen to his ipod; bring him iced tea when he needs to turn over.
Our Heavenly Father gave us a great standard to measure spending time with the Father who loves us: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me," Revelation 3:20.

Just like our Heavenly Father, dads love to enjoy time spent with their children. Jesus said that when those who hear and recognize His voice open the door, He will gladly come in, eat with him, and spend time with His beloved. A great reminder for the hearts of our human dads, too!

How do you relax with your main man?

He is truly the perfect Dad, isn't He? Our Father's Day was very sweet with Him and him. :)
